A Fresh New Year!

Happy 2012, all my garden friends!

Are you ready for a fresh, new year? Are you dreaming about the summer garden and how fabulous it's going to look? Of course you are!

No, we didn't have a snowstorm. One of my daughters took this photo a few years ago. I thought I'd post it for fun. It beats what's out there now--untended dead leaves and mud.

I hope you are enjoying your seed and plant catalogs. Mine are still in a pile awaiting my undivided attention. I hope to get to them soon.

I'm not making any resolutions this year. They're too easy to break. Instead I'll just try to do my best everyday and be grateful for sunshine, rain and good friends.

How about you? Any resolutions you care to share?

As always,

In answer to your question: "Nope!"

In response to that photo: "Wow!"

Happy wintering, Grace.

Hi Grace, I loved your description of the current state of your gardens..I thought you might have stopped by my house as that description fits my place too! blah!
No resolutions this year, just goals. I'm better with goals :)
I wouldn't mind a bit of snow, that way I wouldn't have to look at the mucky yard. Cheers, Jenni

Happy New Year! I hope 2012 is very kind to you. I have not made any resolutions. Maybe I should make one to go through my seed catalogs! I always seem to order a little late, then that makes my garden late, then it gets too hot, and well... it all starts with ordering seeds!

You caught my attention with that picture. I was trying to figure out how you got snow and we just had a big rain and wind storm. I'm hoping for a little snow too.
I'm not a resolution maker either, just keep trying to be a better person in general.
Happy New Year!

Whoa, you got me with that picture. I thought what a beautiful snow Grace got. We all love it in pictures. We finally got two inches yesterday and it is freezing.
I do not make resolutions. No use lying to everyone and myself included.
I am poring over the garden catalogs tough. Only thing is old undecided here can not make up her mind.

I think I've swept up the last of the untended leaves here, with the trees just about bare. Huzzah! Now it finally does feel like a new year in the garden. Happy new year, Grace!

Grace, it is a strange weather year. We have only had a dusting and warm temps again in the upper forties for tomorrow and Friday. I do not make resolutions anymore but I do try to become a little more organized at the beginning of each year. This doesn't seem to work either!

The lighting in this shot is perfect .. it is one beautiful picture and I would have it framed.

Happy New Year to you as well, Grace! I'm not making resolutions either...it's too easy to slip...and then feel guilty. I decided last year that I was going to try to enjoy things more and not be so critical of what wasn't working (and inevitably, there's always something amiss in the garden). Amazingly...it kinda worked! I have to admit...I'm really itching for spring...I've moved and re-arranged plants in the garden about a dozen times in my head already ;-)

Happy New Year, Grace. I have plenty of brown leaves of my own. Fortunately, most are in the woodlands where they don't look out of place. I don't make resolutions, either, but I have a to-do list. I realize I'll never get all of it accomplished, but I'm happy when I can cross off any of it!

I was starting to think you'd moved to Fergus..... we are finally enjoying a good 4-5" of snow, with what looks like more on the way by the weekend. I was getting nervous for the 'children' who were still 'exposed' to the elements only last week.
Resolutions? To make the perennial department of LittleTree a truly unforgettable experience for my clients in the coming year..... and to roll with the punches without undue stress!

Well that white stuff looks better than reality Grace :) May the new year treat you kindly and may all that graces your garden thrive xxx

Love the snow pic, I was surprised that you may have gotten snow recently! Good thing I read your words instead of skimming (yes I am a skimmer).
I've only received a few catalogs - I would love more but I don't order much so I hate to ask for them.
Like you I don't make resolutions, I have life goals - I wish to be a better person, to treat people kinder, to make sure the people in my life know that I love and care. Aside from that I've gotten lazy and that needs to change!
Happy 2012 to you!

Wow, that was some snowfall...well it's all white, all the time up here. We have the only snow in the Okanagan.

it is too dry and way too warm for January!
