TODAY'S WEATHER turned out to be semi-cloudy and mild which made my lunch-hour errand-running all the more pleasurable. On the way back to work, along my normal route, a violet-colored object caught my eye. As I drove past, I was delighted by a hundred little crocuses blooming in an otherwise nondescript lawn. I wanted to stop to get a photo but the clock rushed me on to more important tasks.

You know what this means, don't you? Yep. Spring. Not officially, of course, but the plants are waking up. The days are getting longer and slightly warmer. Hooray!

Back in my own garden, I'm watching a clump of early daffodils, predicting they'll be in bloom next week. Then I'll be even more convinced that spring is coming!

The Corylopsis, pictured above isn't blooming either, yet. But when it does, I'll really be convinced that spring is coming!

I haven't noticed any crocuses or daffodils yet, but my snowdrops are up. I really need to get some daffs and crocuses in the ground this fall!
ReplyDeleteYep, Crocuses are blooming here. I would love to see that lawn with all the Crocuses blooming, I bet it looked pretty. Bulbs are up, but no daffodils or tulips blooming yet. My Corylopsis has lots of buds, maybe one is opened. I moved it in the fall and am so glad to see it is going to bloom.

ReplyDeleteGrace, I'm so excited! I saw all kinds of things getting ready to bloom in my new yard - daffodils especially. I think I saw Day Lillies breaking through the ground. And, there is a bush near the front door with purple blooms - almost a Rhodendron, but not. I'll have to take a picture and see what you say it is. :) I love your photography. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteEven though we don't have a drastic change in seasons down here I do notice spring happening. There is already new growth on my crepe myrtles, spiderworts are starting to bloom, pink flowering trees around the county are in bloom, roses have new growth and blooms too. Jasmines are scenting the air as well as the basket plant flowers, which the bees love.

We had a dusting of snow this morning, so we are white now but here in wisconsin have had hardly any snow this year. I was always expecting to see flowers coming up since the ground was bare and it was so mild..My pond is only half covered with ice now and I can see fish!http://theeverydaygardener.blogspot.com/

ReplyDeleteOh, yes. Crocus, daffodils, and irises are all blooming here. The crab apple tree is starting to bud out, too! Spring is definitely on its way!
ReplyDeleteWell, the little crocus best cover its little heads. :( We have a light dusting this morning in the south valley and a call for more by tomorrow... not looking forward to a low of 29 tomorrow night. On a cheery note. I am looking at a bit of blue sky right night. Love the photos, Grace...warms my soul. ;)
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention this but I have a few crocus and snowdrops coming up...snow right now though and then warming to the 40s on Monday....I do believe we are having early spring weather as well...even the grass is greening...

ReplyDeleteI've been worried that my crocus would be beat by my daffs but I saw a few blooms this morning. Yay! I still don't think spring is really here. We're in sesonal limbo.
