Every spring I sit back and watch to see which rose bush will be the first to put forth a blossom. This year, the winner is
Rosa mutabilis.

Unlike so many that I've lost over the years, this one seems to be impervious to root weevils (knock on wood). |

I'm very pleased with how my brick terrace experiment is working out. It's much more interesting than a boring old lawn.

Your brick terrace already looks like it's been there forever. I would have left the English daisy there too. That red Pulsatilla is a pretty color.
ReplyDeleteSo great seeing you on Monday! When you come in May I want to take you to a local nursery that is a few blocks from me- Pierce Street Garden. She sells in front of her house. Many of the plants are "saved" from different gardens. I just bought some Solomon Seal from her yesterday.

We had some snow yesterday ... and freezing rain last night ... now it is supposed to rain but who knows ... we are in the Twilight Zone of WINTER "will not give it up" area ... so the fight continues.

Grace, I have never seen a lilac that pink! Tinkerbell, you say? I'll have to look into that. I'm a nut for lilacs. I tend to have mine all in the triple light lavender to the darkest variety I've ever found called "Glory." Do you cut back any of your lilac trees—say 1/3 a year to keep them from getting too tall? I'm trying to get mine to become bushier and less tall (so I can each to make bouquets!)
