It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Well, not anymore. But last week it really looked like Christmas, as evidenced by the photos.

Berries from Aronia arbutifolia 'Brilliantissima'

Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Goshiki'

Leaning Myrica californica (Pacific Wax Myrtle) branches

Euphorbia stygiana

Melianthus major

Allium schubertii already up!

Carrots wintering in the trough

The snow is gone now. Time for spring.
I wish.
Love to you all.

  1. I DO love the look of snow, not to speak of your very cute snowman! I wonder if I'd like it as much if I had to slog through it? I truthfully can't say, as I've only seen snow in person 3 or so times in my life (and actually asked my husband what that was landing on the car's windshield the one and only time I saw snow falling from the sky). It wouldn't have occurred to me that you can grow carrots under a blanket of snow...I've clearly lived in SoCal too long.

    Merry Christmas, Grace!

  2. Aronia arbutifolia 'Brilliantissima'!!!! I love those berries. first time i have ever seen it. is it doing that in full sun or part shade? regular water or dry? Melianthus major- how low have your temps gone? i toy with planting this every year, but it is best in full sun also? so many questions, so little full sun. your garden is beautiful with the snow frosting. we had one snow and i slept through the photo opp. and why did you not let the snowman drive the car?

  11. I thought it was perfect: a hit of snow to make the season bright...then gone in time for guests to make it to our Christmas Eve slumber party. You got some very nice snow shots. You can dip into them whenever you need a bit of that Christmas Spirit. Enjoy your holidays, my friend.
