November's Flowers

HI PEEPS. THE WEEKEND weather was not too bad. I was able to spend both days doing what I love, spending time in my favorite place on the planet. It doesn't get any better than that, does it?

There was just a hint of white on the roof a few weeks ago but at the time of this writing, my garden is still without a significant (aka "killing") frost. Hooray! This means there are still die-hard plants holding on to a single blossom or pretty foliage. Here are some of them:

Violet Viola odorata

Double Impatiens walleriana

Impatiens balfouri

Impatiens rothii

Impatiens omeiana

Nicotiana 'Tinker Bell'

Lamium maculatum 'Purple Dragon'

Lantana camara

Salvia microphylla ‘La Trinidad Pink’

Salvia 'Hot Lips'

Salvia microphylla 'Maraschino'

Clematis 'Polish Spirit'

Clematis 'Ernest Markham'

Clematis 'Ville de Lyon'

Clerodendrum speciosum delectum

Begonia grandis

Scented Pelargonium  'Hazelnut'

Bacopa

Kiss-Me-Over-The-Garden-Gate

Fuchsia

Fuchsia

Buddleia 'Lo & Behold'

Dahlia

Phlox 'Eva Cullum'

Hydrangea 'Lemon Wave'

Choisya ternata

Heuchera 'Paris'

Santa Barbara Daisy Erigeron karvinskianus 'Profusion'

Golden Feverfew Tanacetum parthenium

Oxalis 'Tri-Color'
Earlier this past summer, I was picking the yellow blossoms to keep pink the predominant color.
But I finally relented.

A bazillion flowers now!

Persicaria 'Red Dragon' with  Red Penstemon buds

Rosa 'Rhapsody in Blue'

A lone Carpet Rose blossom

Rosa 'Jacques Cartier'

Leycesteria formosa 'Golden Lanterns'

Coreopsis ‘Mercury Rising’
I sure hope this plant winters over. Talk about a work horse.
It's been in bloom since I bought it last May.

Verbena rigida

Another workhorse, Alstromeria. Check out the health and vigor of this plant.

Finally, I had to show you this photo.
Acuba, green with yellow spots. Aging Pear tree leaf, yellow with green spots.
Isn't nature grand?

  3. Wow, you still have a ton of beautiful blooms! About the only flowers left outside for me are Lamiums, and they're fading fast with this cold snap in the upper Midwest! I'm jealous!

  5. Grace, your climate is awesome, we're in November and your garden is full of blossoms! Lovely impatiens, violas, chrysanthemums, bacopa! By the way, I bought bacopa seeds and want to grow seedlings in spring to have hanging baskets with bacopa. Do you grow it or buy seedlings?

  10. It looks as though there's still enough pink to keep you happy. I've never seen that Clerodendrum before - I'll have to hunt it down.

  12. I saw that Mercury coreopsis in various gardens and nurseries this summer and wondered how it performed. So glad you're fighting the good fight and trialing the new stuff! Love that tricolor oxalis too.

  14. My goodness Grace, you still have many blooms to give you pleasure. My flowers are pretty much all done. Of late, I haven't done much blogging so much else going on and of course not much in the garden to talk about. Wishing you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving.

  15. Still so much colour going on there ! You feel you have to treasure every last bloom before the frost kills them all off. Some of my roses are still bravely blooming in the cold, but not for long I fear...
