Where Have All The Flowers Gone?

Actually, I know where they went. They said, "To heck with this crazy cold weather. I'm outa here!" But eventually that early cold snap got tired of torturing everything in its wake and typical 40-50 degree weather returned. Hallelujah!

And that is how Viburnum bodnantense 'Dawn' got her groove on.

Pretty little blossoms...

I love them.

Even the buds look elegant.
Despite the cold, a few flowers remain.

I moved my Hebe diosmofolia 'Raspberry Ripple' to a protected spot during the cold snap.
And it's still blooming!

Rodochitron is holding on.

Barely.

(Himalayan Honeysuckle) Leycesteria formosa 'Golden Lantern' is still happy too.

Look at how the Cyclamen hederafolium foliage is spreading.

Finally my backyard Japanese Maple is turning. So pretty.

My Acer palmatum NOID is blushing too.

Hebe 'Shamrock' also blushes when the weather gets cool.

As does Sedum spurium 'Dragon's Blood'
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

  1. I have that same Viburnum but it's still just a tiny thing. I doubt it will flower this winter. Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Funny, I was just outside this morning, photographing the flowers of my 'Dawn' Viburnum! Together with the 'Yuletide' Camellia it is holding court. Those Cyclamen leaves are spectacular, as is the color of the Hebe. Didn't know they bloomed so late... :)

  3. I love the Dragon's Blood Sedum--especially the way you have it planted in the concrete block. Your Cyclamens are so pretty, too. Every time I visit your blog, I smile at the beautiful plants. :)

  6. I hummed the song all the way through reading your post! That viburnum is such a wonderful plant, keeping us supplied with fragrant blooms all winter long! Happy Thanksgiving, Grace!

  7. Oooo, your viburnum buds are looking especially lovely--I can tell you that MY viburnums don't look like that! Time to research the variety. They are producing deep blue berries--almost like blueberries though--and that makes me happy. But what I especially love in your post is your Acers--both stunning colors. Happy Thanksgiving Grace!

  9. You're garden is looking great despite the cold snap. I have to look around for that Hebe 'Shamrock' (although maybe it wouldn't color up like yours without the cold).

  14. Grace I adore the fact that even with the cold and crazy weather you had, your garden still has beautiful flowers and stunning foliage...all gone, gone, gone here!

  15. I can't believe how many flowers you still have sneaking around there, you lucky girl! We had an early bitter cold snap, and everything got zapped. It's too bad too, because it's been fairly mild, and I might actually have a few flowers left too.
