A Special Visitor

Can you believe it's the middle of August already? I'm not ready for summer to end. Fortunately the garden is keeping me entertained.

I was happy that my camera was handy when I spotted this little visitor.

This website says he's a "Male Green Metalic Sweat Bee"

It was cute watching him hunker down looking for pollen inside this fuzzy, huge
Centaurea rothrockii
Chinese Foxglove (Rehmannia elata) is still blooming.

Passiflora 'Lady Margaret' has two blooms!

My Sweet Peas are still putting out a few blooms. I was surprised to see this bi-colored one.

My Dahlias are looking fine. Except the ones that aren't. Which I won't photograph because it would be pointless.

Dahlia 'Juanita'

Dahlia 'Junkyard Dog'

A single, tiny Jewels of Opar flower. (Talinum paniculatum)

I'm hoping it will reseed.

Hibiscus moscheutos 'Disco Bell White'

Phygelius x rectus 'Pheeges Passionate Pink'

Rosa 'Rhapsody in Blue'

Here is a few wide shots of the north end of my garden.

I hope you are enjoying your garden too.

  1. You sure have some great plant selections--and I can't believe how fresh your garden looks considering it's mid-August and we've had such a hot and dry summer!

  5. "I'm not ready for summer to end"...thank you Grace! It's so nice I'm not the only one who feels that way.

  6. I'm in love with that 'Rhapsody in Blue' rose and the streaked purple sweet pea. My own roses are exceedingly unhappy this year and have barely made any appearances since spring but I'm still tempted to plant 'Rhapsody' if I find it - maybe El Nino would make it feel at home here (at least for awhile).

  7. I see you have an amaranth, drooping with flowers. I've got a bevvy of them as usual. This is their time of year to strut their stuff.

  10. Looking good, Grace! I like your long shots of your fairy gardens, paths, and pots. If you have fruit on the Passion Flower, will you eat it? I think they are such cool plants!
