Pinterest Has This Plant Geek's Back

I WAS SCROLLING through my most recent garden photos last night. There were photos that I've already posted and photos that weren't all that worthy of sharing... So I nixed posting any. But because it's been a week since I posted, I thought I should share something.

This morning while blow drying my hair, it came to me. Hey, instead of posting plants I'm already growing, why not reveal my wish list? Why not share some of the dandies I'd like to grow in the future? I've been collecting photos. So, here you go. Check them out and see if there's a theme. Plants on Pinterest  And if you are already growing one or all of these and can offer some advice or where I can purchase, please let me know and I'll be eternally grateful.

Also, over on my writing blog, I share a little tale of woe titled, The Perils of Gawking at Plants. If you've got a moment, click on the sidebar link and give a read. Hopefully this is something you haven't done yourself.

The weather guy says we're going to have sunshine for the next several days. Hooray. October is the new September.

  1. That's probably the best use of Pininterest I've seen. Annie's Annuals offers a shocking pink Viscaria, although it's not available now. Leucadendron 'Jester' is available at Roger's Garden, an Orange County nursery, if you find yourself in southern California - these do well in our hot, dry garden but I can't speak for their tolerance for frost and heavy rain.

  2. I seem to have my best ideas while blow drying my hair.....but why didn't I think of sharing my plant wishes on Pinterest? Guess I don't blow dry enough?

  3. Pinterest wouldn't let me post this on your pin of Muhlenbergia, probably because of the link: for the most effective use of muhly grass ever, visit http://fairegarden.wordpress.com/2013/10/03/flowery-free-for-all/. She has several blog posts where she features this grass.

  4. You have a lovely wish list. I was drawn particularly to Paeonia tenufolia. I don't think I have ever seen one. I also felt like having tea and cake after going through your garden wish list : ) xx

  5. Hi Grace - just stumbled onto your blog via a link on another blog I stumbled onto (A Growing Obsession) while doing a plant search. Happy to have found you - lovely site! May I ask what the foliage is on your banner? It's beautiful - reminds me of my castor bean.

  6. I'm enamored with Pink Muhly grass, and got some seeds to try next year. I tried the Dalea purpurea and it grew but when I planted them outside they disappeared, I'm not sure why. I might try them again. I got some pink pussytoes and put it in a dry sunny place, I can't say it spread much but it is still alive. I think I did put newpaper under mulch near them so maybe they couldn't spread well. I also like the short red peonies that don't flop, they look great.

  7. I don't do anything with Pinterest. I just do't have time. But the Starman geraniums are easy to grow. Just give them moist soil and bright partial shade. They bloom in late summer here.

  8. Patty,

I don't have contact information so I can reply to your question. Hopefully you'll read this.

The banner photo foliage is indeed Castor plant and the grass is Panicum 'Shenandoah.' Thank you for visiting.
